This dog park is owned by PETA and has a pool in the summertime, benches, a drinking fountain, separate small dog area, and access to the Elizabeth River for doggy swimming. In a flood area, so it can get muddy in the winter and rain.

Good Time

Lots of grassy area, plenty of room to run, many benches, clean kiddie pool, and even a ramp if the dog wants to swim. Very nice park. The signs around it are a little preachy but I can deal with it if my dog is having a good time.

Lovely place for a romp

This big park has it all: lots of grassy space, little nooks and benches, kiddie pools for splashing in, bushes and greenery for hiding/prowling, mailboxes with poo bags and covered trash bins. The view of the Elizabeth River is gorgeous--actually, it's right on the water, so brave doggies can jump right in (there are a couple of ramps, too). My Maltese refrains, thankfully. This means that parts of it at times can get very muddy and the park sometimes closes for this reason. There's also a separate small enclosure right next to it for small dogs and when the main park is closed. My only major complaint is that the posted signs are a little DOGmatic (drum roll, please) for my taste.
