A nice little park with amenities and sufficient space. I totally disagree with those who say the dogs are not well behaved. We've only been there a few times, but if anything the dogs have been too well behaved and not playful enough to wear my pup out.:) The people have been nice, there is a separate space for little dogs and big dogs and a hose to clean them off afterward. Wet dogs do tend to come around to get you wet...but, don't go if you can't afford to get a little dirty...it's a dog park after all.
Small but nicely placed. Unfortunately not a friendly place. A bunch of 'inside the loopers' who's dogs don't know how to get along with other dogs and don't know themselves how to be outside with other humans!
Jenandscottmurray- dogs are dogs go at your own risk!
This dog park is great:)
I've been going to the park for some years now. As time has gone by, the various "regular" visitors have been replaced by others. Therefore, the types, breeds and temperments of dogs that appear there can vary. Usually, dogs that are constantly aggessive are encouraged to leave the park very quickly. There are numbers posted for the Constables, and if called, they respond in a timely manner. Occasionally, there has been an incident where dog aggression has escalated--but that can happen anywhere. The park is maintained almost daily, and if *all* of the dog owners followed the posted rules, there'd be less dog droppings on the ground. This is true of all Houston dog parks. I use the "large dog" side, and can say that the pond there is as clean as can be expected considering the number of dogs that swim in it in the course of a day, especially during the Houston summer. The water is treated with chemicals, and appears to be purged and cleaned at least once a week. The Oak Trees that have been planted there have grown and now offer some shade. This is the closest to me of 3 County parks and I consider myself lucky to be able to use this park daily. This youtube video was filmed there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZA1zS2WoS4
We really don't like this park. Too many dogs in a small space. Also people bring aggressive larger dogs into the small dog area. Our Westie was attacked by an American Bull Dog- also there was a larger Boston Terrier last week who was aggressive towards other dogs.
Also the pond- whilst fun for dogs is awful. Wet dogs jump all over you while the owners watch. It would be a great park if the owners of the dogs were better trained
My aust. shep. and I USED to love this park; however, the maintenance crew are not cleaning the dog pool water fully. My dog got a severe skin infection from the pools. Constant itching, bitting, rash. My neighbor also had her dog get ear infections 2 days after swimming in the pool.
What a great surprise for a newcomer to Houston! I stayed in the Candlewood Suites [pet friendly!] then saw the bark park out the back door. Please pass my thanks on to the family of Danny Jackson.........
