I'll tell ya, what a GREAT group of pups and their owners the wee-side has. Everyone gets along like friends/family. Everyone (except one person) picks-up their dogs poo, never tosses their cigarette butts (except one). No yelling, screaming or stress...wee are truly blesses for the close group(except one) we, the wee-ones have on the wee-side.
I feel so warm and fuzzy inside...wee-power!
A happy end > Tony was returned to his home the next day =)
ATTENTION..Black & white Rat Terrier little 'TONY' got scared from tonights fireworks and ran away from Marshall Road & Plumbstead in Lansdowne Pa.
Tell your neighbors and friends to keep a look out.
Could use more mulch. Lots of underlayment coming through.
We now need two picnic tables too > more and more people joining the Small side ;)
Getting a nice showing of little dogs, new pups!
Hi Joyce!
Eddie and Sammy haven't been down the park in awhile....rain, mud, heat, bugs have kept us away but the glorious fall weather has seemed to have finally arrived!
If you have a fb account go to the groups section and look for Kent Dog Park family. It is a closed group and you will need to request entrance by our Admin Tony. Once in the group you can let people know what time you guys will be at the park, catch up with peeps you haven'tn seen down there in a while and other stuff. It's a great group and we would love you to join.
Looking forward to seeing you guys at the park and on the dp family page!
Denise, Steve, Sammy and Eddie!
Eddie had a great time at the park last Saturday, even if he did get wet from lying in the "swamp" with Chole. We always have a great time and find the people and dogs very friendly. Earlier in the week we can and there were no dogs on the large side, so Eddie just ran with the little guys by the fence. Hope everyone is well and enjoying this nice weather before the rains come back Eddie's mom, Joyce

Was at the park at about 8:20AM today and Darby Creek was just a hair away from overflowing its banks and again covering the small side. The big side wasn't *too* bad and Max was able to get in a good half hour or so of running.
Moved 30 wheelbarrows of mulch from under the bridge up to the front where it was needed > now washed away...numerous times I've lubed and adjusted the entrance gates so they weren't getting tore-up dragging into the ground. Put up fliers about cigarette butts AND quality inexpensive Spay/Neutering, vaccines etc to save owners money > only to be ripped down by someone. I've picked-up what seems to be endless cigarette butts from someone that feels a dog park is 'his ashtray'. And personally told me with a witness > "if a dog is stupid enough to eat a cigarette butt-it deserves to die from one" (imagine that)
I've done my share...NEVER looking for a pat on the back or notoriety...and I'll continue to do so, until I can't > because I care about that place.
Tonight at Kent Dog Park...I witnessed a very good deed turned by an admirable man. John is the proud owner of Xana.
Tonight people came and could not go into the small dog side of the park due to the fact that the fence is down--not gone-- and they had to leave. They were invited over to the large side but at their own risk. John went to his car and got rope and picked up the fence and tried to repair it. Of course it is just a bandaid on a problem that is going to have to be fixed by the county but at least he gave it a try.....instead of complaining about the problem he stepped up and tried to fix it!
HATS OFF to KDP member JOHN LEPERA...an extremely compassionate, caring man.
...the 'small side' is a mess. All mulch was washed away by the severe flooding of Darby Creek...and...a section of fence is ripped down/gone by the force of the flooding water. Hope I'm wrong but, I don't see this being repaired anytime soon. Too bad for the little dogs =(
Wow! There have been no postings here for over 2 months. I guess the hot weather has been keeping a lot of folks close to home. All the new mulch on the big side is wonderful! No more washouts after a heavy rain. Since it's been so hot, all the activity seems to take place in the wee hours of the morning. Regulars are Macy, Shadow, Mack, Max, Titan, Bailey, and Sapphire. Later on in the morning the park is like a ghost town... quiet and deserted. I'm not there in the late afternoon, when folks get off work, so can't comment about that.
Joe and his dog, Mike, will be leaving for Ohio in just a few days. I'd like to take this opportunity to say "goodbye" to them and wish them well. Joe's been a regular for as long as I've been at Kent and know he'll be missed.
Just love the photos of Mugsy!!
The photo of Mugsy and Ajax is great! It's nice to see how the pups have grown! The first time we met Ajax he was just a little ball of fur!
Keep on posting those great pics!!

Hello and Happy Belated Mother's Day to all the Kent Park Dog Mommy's! :-P
We visited the park yesterday it was pretty empty. Just a few dogs on the small breed side and couple on the large breed side.
We are going to try to get down the park this afternoon around 4-5. Hopefully we will meet some new people. Oliver is getting pretty BIG...we think it may be time to introduce him to the large breed dogs!
See you at the dog park!
Chuck and Jenn
eddie and sammy say......"Happy Mother's Day" to all the wonderful Moms at the dog park! Whether you have 4 legged babies or 2 legged ones or both you are all great mommies and deserve a happy, healthy special day!

My name is Lauren. I'm a freelance writer from Patch.com. For those of you who have not heard of it, it's an online local newspaper. As a owner of two dogs, I decided to write an article about dog parks located within Delaware County. Amidst my research I have come across Kent Park. I was wondering if any of you would be interested in giving me a few quotes about the park for my article. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!-Lauren
Happy Easter to everyone. We spent a lovely late morning at the Dog Park with Millie, Fred, Ajax, Peachy, Kody and Milo the pup! A good time was had by all. And we finally met Kathy - the Mayor of Kent Dog Park - and had a nice chat. We have found a wonderful community and will definitely be involved help making the park a better place for Mugsy and his dog pals. Roberta and Bob.
We just love this page! It is so much fun reading the posts and finding out information about the park and other things.
We also visited Haverford Reserve and it is a nice plan.
Please remember to visit www.petfinder.com or www.delcospca.org if you are looking for a new "best friend". DON'T SHOP--ADOPT!!!
We are signing off today with this qoute "NEVER SHOP or BUY when shelter dogs are left do die"

EDITOR COMMENT: We also suggest Adopt-a-Pet.com; we work with them and support them through the iPhone app (paid Plus version).
Hi!
We just renewed our key for the dog park last week. If you go to www.kentdogpark.com and click on the DelawareCountyPA link it will bring up the information for the park along with printable forms.
You have to fill out a new application and bring proof of that Roxy is current on her rabies vaccination and that she is licensed by the county for 2011. The fee is $10.00. Make sure you bring everything or you will be making another trip...trust me..we had to make 2 trips! LOL
If you supplied the county with an email address last year you SHOULD receive an email letting you know that your registration has expired. A lot of people told me they have not received an email but we did! I really don't know how the key fob works if it shuts of the day your registration expires or not.
Maybe we will run into you or Roxy next time we take a trip over to Haverford Reserve and don't be a stranger at Kent Dog Park...we all like seeing both you and Roxy!
Denise :-)
I haven't been to the park in a while and I'm pretty sure it's over a year since I joined. What's the process of paying the $10 yearly dues? Will my key still work in the meantime?
Thanks and if any of you go to Haverford Reserve maybe you will run into us there, more likely that Roxy will run into you :)
It's good to be certain of these things. I would check with the County Offices that supply the keys. There are requirements that go with joining the park - a license, up-to-date shots, etc. You can ask the officials if there is some kind of limited pass arrangements. Hope that helps.
The new mulch is spread and Mugsy had a lovely time this morning checking it out, kicking it up, and stretching out in it. We might even go back later for the "evening shift."
Hello- Is there any way that my dog and I could come visit the park one day and try it out before actually joining- is there such thing as a visitor pass? She's very picky, and I'm an enabler : (
Thanks!
Eddie and I visited the park this morning and because of yesterday's rain the park was very muddy and messy. They dumped a lot of mulch but have not spread it yet.
Tomorrow (Sunday) the park will be closed. I am hoping they are going to dump the rest of the mulch and then spread it out.
A fun thing that is happening around the area is at the Marple Public Library in Broomall, PA. the Luv-N-Bunns Rabbit Rescue will be at the library between 2pm to 3pm taking pictures. Of course this event is not for our four-legged friends just children. If interested go www.marplepubliclibrary.org and find out more about this fun event. To learn more about the rabbit rescue visit www.luv-in-bunnsrabbitrescue.com
Eddie, Sammy and I are looking forward to the new mulch and a great spring at the dog park. Hope to see all our friends and meet some new ones soon!
Denise (eddie and sammy's mommy)
The park will be closed today and Sunday. Fresh mulch is being poured. Yeah....hip hip horray!!! Other news....our dp mayor was quoted in Wednesday, March 6th's Dailey Times. Go to www.delcotimes.com and read all about it!!!! If you need a place to take your best friend this Sunday join us at Rose Tree Park!
Has anyone else had problems with intact male dogs at Kent Dog Park? We've noticed that whenever one enters the group the dynamic changes. Sometimes, the dogs are aggressive or they provoke aggression on the part of neutered males - including our dog Mugsy. What we've been doing is simply removing Mugsy whenever an intact male enters the mix. We know many dog parks do not allow intact dogs. Has this ever been discussed? We're just concerned that this might get out of hand and real injuries will result. Roberta
Eddie and I were at the park yesterday too!! We also met the guy with the little beagels!!
Millie is the sweetest thing in the world! I want to snatch her up and take her home with me.
Sorry we missed you. Eddie has yet to meet Oliver. Eddie normally goes to the big dog park but is still recovering from a fight he was in with his cousin Buster (eddie doesn't like boxers) and I keep him on the small side until I know the dogs he doesn't like and tries to fight with have left the park....he THINKS he's a LARGE DOG but only weighs 20 lbs. lol
Hopefully we will catch up with you sometime soon.....we go in the afternoon on off hours when the small park is empty and then back again at night round 4:30-5:00.
Looking forward to meeting Oliver the Great!
Denise (eddie and sammy's mommy)
Oliver had much fun at the park yesterday. We met a very nice man with 4 dogs!!! Two were small beagels and they were just adorable...millie is such a sweetheart! Hope we see them again today.
What a nice man and such cute little dogs!
Jenn
Phillies second baseman Chase Utley has done an adopt-an-animal ad for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and he will unveil it at noon April 4th at Seger Dog Park which is near 11th and Lombard Streets in Philadelphia.
In the ad, Utley poses alongside his adopted MUTT Jack, whose parents were confiscated from a dogfighting ring. The ad reads...
"Adopt and Never Buy. Save a Homeless Dog or Cat - Always Adopt and Never Buy" Chase and his wife Jennifer are major-league animal-rights patrons.
So...come on down on April 4th! Meet Chase and Jen and maybe even take home a forever friend.
Oliver and family will be visiting the dog park this afternoon probably round 1 or 2! Hope to see some old friends and make some new ones two!
Happy Sunday! Jenn Chuck and Oliver the Great
Nice picture of Misty!! Hope to see you guys at the dp sometime this weekend.Hopefully the weather will warm up soon.
WOW!! We visited the park around 1:30 yesterday afternoon. There were just a couple of dogs on the small breed side. We had a very nice visit. The owners of the dogs were nice and friendly and Oliver had fun playing with their dogs. Chuck and I will keep our eyes peeled for this man he needs to go!
I arrived around 4:30 so missed all this. But no question, first thing is to snap pic. Always have my phone. Then make sure reporting him.
Andrea it was AWFUL! Poor little Maddie was playing with his big old boxer and he just started kicking her away and actually swinging his leash at her! UGH!
Sad that he owns dogs...he was with a lab when he kicked Xana a few weeks ago. He needs to be stopped!
I wish I had snapped a picture of him....he is definetly on MY Ten Most Wanted List!
Just joined last week and Molly has been having a great time at the park! Other dogs and their owners have all been friendly.
I know there are all kinds of people out there but I really dislike people! I will keep an eye out for this guy. It is people like him that makes me want to stay away and go to another park........AND I KNOW my nutty dogs are not the best behaved but I can deal with that. I can not deal with humans who can not behave! UGH!!!!
There was an incident at the dp this afternoon that was very unsetteling!
A man in his early 60's around 5'9" white hair and white beard came in the park with a overweight fawn boxer. He was greeted at the gate by a bunch of dogs...Maddie, Honey, Eddie, Sammy, Duke,Gracie, Otto, Buddy and a few I don't know. The dogs were chasing each other around as usual and Maddie (who is still a puppy) was playing around with his Boxer. HE BEGAN TO KICK MADDIE and then try to smack her with his dog's leash. I was sitting with Ed when I realized that he was kicking and hitting Maddie and after I made Ed aware he was up and running towards this creep.
The man started shouting and cursing at Ed and Kathy. Although Ed and Kathy were upsett they kept their cool and pulled Maddie away. By that time all of us had our dogs on their leashes and we sat there while this man kept on ranting and raving. He finally left.....GOOD RIDDANCE TO BAD RUBBISH!!!
Please keep an eye out for this creep. He had a run in with John and Xana a few weeks ago but he had a different dog with him. He has a foul mouth and is very cruel to other dogs at the park. If you encounter him....keep your dog on a leash and call 911 if you see him kick or swat another dog.
He certainly put a damper on our beautiful 1st day of Spring. Hopefully he is gone for good but I doubt it...I really feel he has no idea!
Happy 1st day of Spring!
Denise (Eddie and Sammy's mommy)
We joined the dog park a few weeks ago. We have been visiting the park in the early afternoon when the park is pretty empty. So far so good. There has been just a few small breed dogs in the park each time we visit and Oliver is getting along nicely with all of them.
After reading some of the other posts I must say that we do not want ANY large dogs on the small breed side when we visit the park! Although a dog may get along fine with some who knows how he or she would react with our little Ollie! What if one of these large dogs fell on top of our little boy?
Looking forward to many long and happy days visiting the dog park.
Jenn & Chuck (Oliver's Humans)
We love the dog park! Romeo gets to go almost every day. He loves to play with Bella, Indy, Ziggy and any other little buddy who likes to run with him!
Having a great time since joining the dog park in January. Our dog Mugsy loves it too - he looks forward to his runs with his pals and he likes the people just fine too. Can't wait until the weather gets warmer, the park dries out a little more, and the days are longer!
Roberta and Bob Snow - and Mugsy
Eddie was injured by his cousin Buster last week.
He ended up with a torn ear and many puncture wounds on his neck and top of his head. It was very traumatic for all of us but he is doing well.
He was able to take his cone off today...he HATES the cone...and is still on antibiotics and pain meds.
Hopefully his fur will grow back soon!
We are all hoping we can make it down to the dog park this week. The weather is supposed to get warmer as the week goes on.
Eddie will be staying in the small dog park until he is completly healed. I really don't know if he will still be the aggressive little "doggie cop". Time will tell. Hopefully he learned his lesson....DON'T MESS with a 70lb dog when you only weigh 22lbs soaking wet! :-)
Please wish Eddie well and we hope to be back at the park by the end of the week!
Denise and Sammy :-)
Porthos continues to have a great time at each visit to Kent Park! Though I think I had a better time today than Porthos! ;-)
Bella gives him a run for his money and got to meet Ziva and Seeley today!
Looking forward to your return. Nice to see you are part of our Dog Park Family!
((hugs)) eddieandsammy xxx
I havent visited here or the park in awhile though I plan on coming back soon. Sad news to hear of Honey geting hurt and the passing of Frank. I hope everyone else is well!
Sammy and Eddie had a great time at the dog park this afternoon!
It was great to see Blondie, Maddie and Honey,Porthos, Stormy and Bear, Xana and all the new dogs and dog owners we met today!
Although the park was pretty muddy we still had fun running around and playing.
Our dear friends Frank and Pearl were sorely missed but we will never forget Frank. He was on everyone's mind today and we talked about him and remembered him for the great and funny guy he was.
((hugs)) Eddie and Sammy xxxx
