My dogs had a really fun time at this park. It was pretty busy, but big enough for dogs to not feel crowded together. The trails are nicely marked with lava rocks, and the terrain is mostly level. The big open meadow was nice for allowing the dogs to run full tilt, but I think they really enjoyed climbing up on the lava boulders and running through treed areas best. I enjoyed the views of Mt. Washington and the Three Sisters visible from many points in the park.
We have been going to the Pine Nursery dog park for the past 3 years with our 9 1/2 year old heeler mix. We love this park and so does she but today we had an altercation that was very upsetting. We were in the SW end of the grassy area and our dog was playing with a 7 months old about her same size 45 - 50 lbs. A man came in with a little black terrier mix on a leash. Both our dog and the puppy of course went over to check it out and say hi. I realized that the man's dog was getting nervous so I called our dog back. The puppy and the little terrier were going around the leash and the little terrier yiped (not like it was in mortal pain, more like it was nervous) the man then yelled at the puppy and smacked it on the back with his ball thrower. The owner of the puppy and my husband and I were outraged. To make a long story shorter, my husband and this man got into a yelling match and the man said we should read the rules, aggressive and vicious dogs are not allowed there, neither of which our two dogs were. He yelled F U more than once and also go F yourselves. The young woman who owned the puppy leashed him and left and we also left. We have never experienced any kind of altercation at this wonderful park and feel this guy was way out of line. If he's so fearful of his tiny dog being injured he shouldn't come to a dog park. We've seen dogs of all sizes there from chiuauas to great Pyrenees and never anything like this. We were very shaken when we left.
This dog park is fantastic! It has numerous trails wending through a giant, totally fenced park. The people I have met are always nice, and the dogs get along so much better since most everyone is walking and the dogs are moving with their owners. It's worth moving to Bend for! Really, if you have a dog that can't be off-leash with no fence, this is awesome. Plus, it's pleasant. With occasional mountain views and varied trails, it makes for a great time for both person and pup. SO grateful for this fantastic addition and the people who put the time and money into it!
This park allows for all sorts of opportunities to get exercise, or socialize with other dogs. a couple miles of trails, and two separate field/open areas make this an outstanding park.
