Good runs in a great little park
3

*Review for Large Dog Run*

One of the better dog runs in Manhattan in a great little park.

Things it has going for it:

- Not a lot of wear and tear
- Clean
- Plenty of shade
- Seating for humans
- Has a water
- Has poop bags
- Area to hose off your dog
- Dedicated large dog run (with a dedicated small dog run 50 feet away
- Safe area/park
- Good fencing and gates
- Views of East River 50 feet away

Things it has against it:

- Could be bigger
- No bathrooms for humans near run but in park
- Crushed granite litter material is better than dirt or wood chips, but if you have a wet long haired dog, that stuff if a pain to clean off your dog.

This is by far one of the better dog runs in Manhattan that I have experienced so far mostly due to the people using it, for the most part follow the rules. If the ground cover was pea gravel or synthetic turf it would probably be a perfect 5 star run in my opinion.

*Review for Small Dog Run*

One of the better small dog runs in Manhattan in a great little park.

Things it has going for it:

- Not a lot of wear and tear
- Clean
- Seating for humans
- Has a water
- Has poop bags
- Area to hose off your dog
- Dedicated small dog run - dogs weighting under 23 lbs (with a dedicated large dog run 50 feet away)
- Safe area/park
- Views of East River

Things it has against it:

- Could be bigger
- No bathrooms for humans near run but in park
- Concrete ground cover can get hot in summer
- Fencing might be to low for some small dogs

This is one of the better small dog runs in Manhattan that I have experienced so far . If the ground cover was pea gravel or synthetic turf it and the fences were taller it would probably be a 4 star run in my opinion.

park is changing

When I first started coming to the park I choosed to go there because I heard it was safe. I've been going for a year now but so much has changed now. First of all I notice how plenty of people bring there dogs there let them poop and won't clean up after them. They just leave the park like nothing. It's disgusting stop being pigs and clean up after yourself. My second complaint is on two separate occasions I've seen someone bring an unfriendly dog. On one occasion about a week ago I saw a dog attack a smaller dog and bite her in the neck. It's not fair for anyone to come to the dog run when it's dirty or there is a unfriendly dog. Common sense people use it!!!

Carl Schurz Dog Run
4

There are two runs - one for small dogs and one for big dogs. I have spent countless hours at the large dog run and I miss it greatly now that I no longer live in NYC. Great groups of regulars. Some people complain about the pebbles used for ground cover, but my dog never minded it. It gets smelly in the summer with all the dog poop baking in the surrounding trash bins. It's located in a beautiful park, Carl Schurz (home of Gracie Mansion). All in all it's a wonderful place for dogs to run around and play with their friends.
