Normally I wouldn't go to a dog park because I dislike meeting new people and my dogs have a yard to play in, but my brother got a puppy who was showing early signs of fear aggression towards other dogs. He's just a puppy so he's coming out of his shell. Anyway, yes, other dogs can be territorial and dominating, but they're dogs! That's what they do. They don't take it personal, so you shouldn't either if someone just watches their dog from a distance. As long as there is no real fights and just nipping, it's fine.

Secondly, there's poop on the ground. Yeah, it's a dog park! What are you expecting? When I went, I was under the impression that they were everywhere from the reviews. There really wasn't. I was actually pretty impressed because there was so few and everyone I saw there was holding a poop bag too.

Now, the reason I don't give this a high review is because the county apparently doesn't maintain it very well. On the small dog side, where I have to go, half the grass is dead. This is the side near the gate. There are also sticker bushes here, near the gate. Inevitably, you have to walk in it. There were literally hundreds on all three of our dogs by the time we left. They would then jump on me and I had them all over my socks and shoes. My Cocker Spaniel had so many on her legs that people felt sorry for her. My brother described her as half plant. It took over an hour to brush it all out. For days after, I still found them on blankets, and socks, etc. I don't know if I'd ever come back just for this reason alone.

If your dog has short hair or just not as much hair on their feet as a Spaniel normally does, I'm sure it's fine since the other two weren't so bad. However, I'm proud of the cuts I do for my dog and I'm not going to sacrifice good grooming for a run that could be done at our home. It's a nice park overall. There's water fountains, shaded benches and trees, but they need to hire a gardener for those stickers.

I've been taking dogs to this park for 5+ years and we still haven't grown tired of it. Most dogs and owners are very pleasant and congenial. We go on the small dog side and although some dog waste may be found, know that several dedicated walkers walk around and around and around that park with extra bags and pick up waste that did not result from their pet.

The larger park (over 35 lbs) is in need of attention from the lackluster ppl who go there and sit in their lawn chairs and talk-talk-talk while their dogs fuss and fight and leave biohazardous piles behind as a souvenir of their visit.

Yes, the outhouse is the only bathroom but it is surprisingly clean and well kept. Two parks: "under 35 lbs" and "over 35 lbs". Of course occasionally you have an errant oerson who thinks it's a great idea to bring a pitbull into the small dog park but the park regulars self-police very well and scofflaws are asked to leave. The park has extremely close proximity to million dollar mountain views and during good weather, you can walk outside the park, off-leash with poochie.

The water spigots work during the summer months; they are turned off during the winter, presumably to prevent the pipes from freezing.

The negatives? Not everyone is polite, sometimes you get someone out of "Weirdo-land", and definitely avoid going to the park after 9pm. Substantial rumors say "dog fighting" takes place in this park late Friday and Saturday nights.

Other than that, if you live in the area, your doggy will love you for going here.

Me and my friends often bring our dogs to this park. I have a Pekignese, and one friend has a Pap/Chihuahua mix and the other has two Pap/American Eskimo mixes, and this park is usually very empty in the early part of the day, but it gets quite busy as the day goes on. Sometimes there are little poops in the grass but not so many that you can't walk around them. The dogs are always very pleasent, and usually the owners are too. I've always had good experiences here.

Everything what the comment below said is true, except there were more dogs when we went. We have an Australian Shephard who is friendly and social... their dogs not so much. A few dogs acted very territorial and aggressive in the bigger pen and the dog owners completey ignored them and just sat around in their camping chairs. A few dogs wanted to play nice, but just be advised. Watch out for mudholes and "presents" left in the grass.

We brought our Boxer and Cocker Spaniel here and the large dog side was filled with dog pooh. The side for smaller dogs was better, but not enough for me to keep bringing our dogs back. All of the water spigots were not working and the only restroom that I saw was an outhouse. On the plus side, it was empty, not a soul in sight on a Wed morning. My dogs got to be in the same side and play with each other.
