Traveling & Needed a Dog Park

This place is right off highway 75 heading north out of Topeka and just south of Omaha. If there are no other dogs there you may miss it hidden as the entrance is behind some basket ball courts. There is one bench all the way across the exercise area and across an unknown amount of dog poo. They need benches and tables near the entrance where we all were standing. Especially since they were all around the basketball courts. But our dog got exercise, ran around and had fun! It was easy to find thanks to this app! There is water and people have left buckets.

This park is one of three closest to us in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. It's in Bellevue, right off I-75 (Capehart exit), or 370 (turn south on 25th). There is a large tree (great shade), one long bench, plenty of bags for you-know-what, and fresh water from a pump. The grass is kept mowed, and I've never seen it crowded mid week. You'll see in my photos we're the only ones there on a summer afternoon. I like the double entry gate which protects dogs entering/exiting. I did find the water pump a bit tricky (sorry for the overspray), but all in all a good park, with lots of open space for your dog to run and play.

Nice little park

Lots of things to sniff along the perimeter! Mosquitoes can be a problem. Bring poopy bags and water bowl (water is available near double gate entrance). Trash cans available. Nice big tree for shade. People seem to clean up after their dogs most of the time.

Find the park across from new strip mall with Scooter's, Ferrell's, State Farm, and doctors. Between 22nd and light at 25th.

Good starter park

My guy was new to parks, was scared from the larger dogs bowling him over but nothing serious. Met some nice people and dogs of similar size so we finally got him to play! Awesome to finally have a place to run him out so he doesn't drive me nuts all night since I don't have a yard! Shame it's not permanent, something should be done!!!

Trash!!!

A friend of mine told me to check this park out. We like it lot. But the same trash was sitting there from when she went the week before. Maggie did hurt herself on a LARGE branch that was in the field. I moved it off to the side. We loved the room, not a lot of dogs. It was perfect (since Maggie is new to dog parks). Running up and down the hill, makes for a tired dog ;). Lets hope they work on the trash.

Little dogs can be just as

Little dogs can be just as mean, if not meaner. A pomeranian tore into the side of my lab costing multiple surgery and lots of money. If your that worried about your dog, don't take it to the dog park.

Very sad that there are no

Very sad that there are no plans for a new dog park once this one is taken back for base housing. We think this park is GREAT and as for any quality problems with the fences, if you are watching you dog, as all owners should be, there should be no problems! We will continue to enjoy it while we can!

Temporary ParK? we had better start talking!

As for your statement and request for the quality and height of the fence to be different, this is not in our current plans as this dog park is only temporary. The dog park is/was the end result to a question of what to do at the time with an available space, keeping in mind the time limitations we have for this area. The plan for this area is to demolish the homes and to give the land back to the Air Force. This will unfortunately mean the end of the dog park for Rising View and there are no plans to relocate or create another dog park at this time.

Not good news for this area!

dog park fence

currently most of the fence around this park is 36", short enough for most dogs to jump in a heartbeat. Several have. Mine is finding the holes at the bottom and there are several and squeezing out. The fence material is not of good quality. As much as I like the park, we are going to curtail our visits. Puppy is not going to like this at all!

find this park

Old softball field. East of basketball court and tennis court. This is hard to find.

Must be missing something

Tried to go to the dog park. Followed directions, looked for it on the North side of Capehart. Saw a big empty lot. Drove through: no fences, no basketball court, no tennis courts, no people, no dogs, no nothing.....?

Great park

Just visited the park today for the first time. There were many dogs there and all were well behaved. Plenty of space for your dog to roam, recommend you bring water. We were very happy with this park and will start going on a regular basis as our boys loved it.

small dog section

I have seen a few dogs take try to take advatage of a smaller dog. I am the fool that will reach in and seperate the dogs. I collared a lab mix the other day when he went after a pug for the second time. Lab's owner were not paying attention and the pug's were on my other side. Seemed like a good time to recuse a pup!

I have wondered if the adults would spread out a little more, or go to different areas, how the dogs would seperate and play.

Moral of the story, keep an eye on your dog.

Seperate section for big dogs and little dogs
2

Very disappointed that Capehart housing did not build the dog park to have a seperate section for big dogs and little dogs. What were they thinking?? The Hefflinger dog park in Omaha got it right, why can't Bellevue. Too bad cause the Bellevue dog park, if you can call it one, is closer to my house, but I guess I'll have to try out the Jewell dog park. Having a small dog, going into the park can be a little intimidating, most of the bigger dogs have been good, but I never know when and if one of them will not be.

Please use the gates

We ares seeing a lot of 'flapping' gate problems.

PLEASE!!!!! Protect the pets in the enclosure. Some simple steps. 1. open and close gates quickly, get your party together BEFORE you approch the first gate. 2. Make sure gates are latched once you are through the gate. 3. Ensure the gate you just used is CLOSED firmly before you go through the next gate. Don't stand there with one gate open and start to open the next gate. All the dogs on the inside of the enclosure see this as a chance to make a run for it!

This park is hard to find.

This park is hard to find. Look for it on the north side of Capehart Rd. Park on the west end of the Basketball Court at 23rd ST. Walk along the basketball court toward the tennis court. Double entry gate, poopy bags, water at basketball court. Fencing is of various heights and part of fence is between the park and base housing.

There is one large area, no division for size of dog or temperment. Everyone seems to get along pretty well.
