best pooch play place :)

Huge play field. River on both sides. Jungle of driftwood, boulders for us to hop or sit and chill. Really nice place for both us and our besties.

2I love going to Jac

2I love going to Jacob's Island, but recently I have been encountering more and more agressive dogs and dog owners. In one visit, a Jack Russell attacked my friends 6 lb Papillon and an owner of a young German Shorhaired Pointer thought it was his duty to keep all other dogs from coming in contact with his. If you are going to bring a puppy to the dog park, expect the "puppy treatment" of older dogs rolling your rowdy puppy on his back to make him submit and calm down. A Lab went close to this dog and let out a few barks and this guy grabbed the dog by the scruff and threw him. It's not called the "Bark Park" for nothing. I suggest that if you are overprotective of your young dog, then don't bring it here because of the number of aggressive dogs. I further suggest that if you are in Jacob's island, don't let your dog near a young man wearing sunglasses and a hat playing Chuckit with his German Shothair.

Our dog had the best time

What a great park - easy to find off the highway. Cinnamon ran for an hour checking out the other dogs and running on every trail.

Delightful Place to Take the Dogs

This park is great! The river rushes by on both sides, and dogs have a bit of varied terrain to romp around in. However, as pointed out in other remarks, it is possibly for your dog to slip around the fence and escape, so be careful. Also, if you have an extreme water dog who might set out for the opposite shore, it could be tricky. Parking is a bit difficult.

fenced??? kind of

If you have a dog like mine, (aka marley from the hit book marley and me) You should not take your dog to this park.. The main reason? the park is not a secure fenced area. There is a fence, but it just goes to a tree line. If your dog should escape, let's say chasing a squirrel, like my dog did, it is not a pretty site. I caught my dog in the middle of rush hour traffic on a busy street that intersects with an onramp.. IT WAS NOT GOOD!!!
