My husband and I are from california were we have dog beaches and fenced dog parks. This was our first dog park we had been to since moving to buffalo, MN so we didn't know what to expect. There were a lot of bugs, and the water didn't really have a landing for our dogs to enter it from. They had fun but it was a much longer walk to the water then we were expecting and there were no signs showing us where to go. If we hadn't run into someone leaving we probably would have just left before finding the water
Our three Springer's LOVE this park! One of their favorite activities is to retrieve their training bird when launched or thrown into the river. They will even share the training fun with other dogs. They also love to blind retrieve their dummy in the woods or tall grass. It is fun for all of us to meet new dogs and their owners and everyone is friendly. We enjoy this park year round but are careful by the river in the winter. It would be nice to have running water by the picnic area and maybe a dog waste container and/or a garbage can located on the trails. This is a great well kept park for everyone to walk the many trails, and your dogs can run, train, play in the river and meet new friends!
If your dog likes to swim, then this is the park for him/her. This park is not only fun for the dogs, but it is also fun for the owners, being able to run/walk all over the trails.
This site has a rest room (glorified biffy), there are bags and a garbage at the front of the park. Also, this is a fence less park but really it does not need it unless you have a runner and if that is the case you should do some training first. The walks are absolutely phenomenal with miles of groomed trails even in winter. I have not been to this park in the summer so I can not comment on that. Watch out for the river though, even though there is ice on it I heard from a fellow dog park visitor that on Saturday January 16th two dogs broke through the ice. One of the dogs was recovered just fine, the other, well did not have such luck. I was not there during this time but my heart goes out to the owner of the dog that is no longer with us.
My 4 1/2 month old GSD and I went to this park on Saturday for the first time. The park is very spacious, the people friendly and helpful and we didn't meet even one "bad owner" or grumpy dog. We are definelty getting a permit and look forward to returning!
40 acres. Wooded. Prairie. Along the river (muddy but safe water) for retrievers and other water lovers (and puppy drinks on hot days). Everything for a real natural setting. Has one outhouse style unisex bathroom. About 3+ miles of trails, well off the road. Open 365 days/yr. 5 am to 10 pm. Marker should be just NW of 141st on Territorial Rd. Info at threeriversparks.org.
Your dog meets a lot of familiar dogs and owners a lot of regulars, I have an aussie and is gves him a great run! We both love this park.
Some of the best trails in the area and you can bring your dog! Great river access and they always have doggie bags available if you forget. They do need to find some way of getting fresh drinking water out there.
Get some exercise with your dog while walking the beautiful trails. Located by the river, your dog while enjoy a dip to cool himself.
