The dog park itself is very nice. As small dog owners it's nice to see a small dog area that isn't an after thought like other parks. Our girls had a blast once we were able to get into the small dog area. Sadly we had to wait 10-15 for the people who thought they could take it over as there own to leave. When we arrived the small dog area had been taken over by 5 aggressive dogs their owners and owners children. In the time we waited they feed their dogs. They then got into a fight and were not cleaned up after, included poop and spilt dog food. The owners told us they had to go to that side because their dogs were too aggressive. Once we got in our girls had a blast running around and playing ball.
We took our pitbull puppy this week and he had a great time. Other dog owners were friendly and all the dogs played well. Will definitely go back!
I have a 90 pound Sheepdog/Great Pyrenees mix that loves to play. He does well with all dogs. Want to meet up sometime? I just moved to the area and would love to meet other dog owners to get the scoop on the area.
I have an Akita, and I'm looking for a 100+ pound friend for him to play with. He's a very friendly and playful dog, but he tends to throw his weight around with smaller dogs, so I was hoping to find another dog roughly his size for him to play with. Please reply to this message if you're interested!
As to the park, I thought it was vrey nice. The small and large dog areas were both well-kept, and there were bowls available for water (though they need to be filled from a water fountain that is a short walk from the play area).
Small dog part is nice and grassy and has one bench. It could use a tree or two for those hot and sunny days. But overall it is a nice well kept grassy park. My 6 month old Chorkie has made several friends and will run herself ragged when she finds a playful furry friend that will run with her. If you plan on being out there for several hours in the summer months I highly suggest an umbrella for shade.
My husband Adam & I took our newly adopted puppy Lilly (5 months old) to this park hoping to introduce her to new people & dogs. Lilly was in a shelter before we adopted her so she's kind of shy. Since Lilly weights 18 pounds we brought Lilly into the big dog park. We didn't even get in all the way & 2 pit bulls attacked Lilly. The owners did NOTHING! They just watch their 2 pits attack Lilly. They even seemed to be laughing a little. I admittedly grabbed Lilly & started to walk away. There was a man in the park for little dogs & he said come on over here. I did, Lilly Adam & I had a great time. When I got there only 2 dogs were in the little dog park by the time we left there were 8 dogs there. Lilly had a blast! She slept all the way home & just relaxed the rest of the day. The only other issue I have is there were a bunch of mosquitoes. I think there might be a swap near the dog park but it was so worth visiting.
Seprate areas for small dogs and big dogs. Kinda muddy but overall grassy. Good group of dogs and people go reguarly. Everyone is friendly and watches out for all the dogs. Love going here.
