Anniversary Event Is A Tail-Wagging Success
By JIMMY BRANNON
The third anniversary of the opening of the Patrick Brannon Memorial Dog Park was a big success according to organizers of the event. Close to 150 people attended the event with countless number of their four legged pets. Those in attendance enjoyed free food and refreshments, numerous free giveaway items such as leashes and dog sweaters and coupons.
There were also several booths at the event including Puparazzi Grooming and Boutique, Dr. Christine Akers (Paris Vet Clinic), photographer Jo Ellen Pearman, Pet Palace Kennels and Paris Pet Design.
In addition, there were drawings for door prizes at the conclusion of the event. The winners were as follows:
--Ryan Hays: Bag of dog food donated by Betty Florence Austin Fraley, Cathy Stiles.
--Connie Fitzgerald and Mark Christman: Each won a box of Iams dog food donated by Paris Vet Clinic.
Ashton Avery: Corn hole games and bags donated by Becca Lawyer.
--GT. Lawson: Pet grooming certificate from Paris Pet Designs,
--Mike Mathews: Antique decorated milk bottle donated by Becca Lawyer.
--Terrie Napier: A green leash donated by Paris Pet Design.
--Chris Livingood: Bird bird nest box donated by Becca Lawyer.
--Celeste Hays: A dog bone donated by Paris Pet Design.
--Anna Gasser: A dog bone toy donated by Paris Pet Design
There was also a benefit "bike ride" held in conjunction with the event and some 20 motorcyclists enjoyed a Saturday morning ride to Maysville and back before enjoying food and refreshments at the park. The local chapter of the Gunfighters and the River of Life ministries were represented in the ride. Tim Tucker gave a brief prayer and led the group of cyclists on their trek.
The Patrick Brannon Memorial Dog Park will be celebrating its third anniversary with a party on Saturday, June 6 from 1 to 4 p.m. All are invited.
I absolutely love the dog park - and so does my four-legg'd child. He loves to run and play with all of the other dogs. As soon as I put his harness on and say, "Lets go to the park!" his ears perk up, his tail wags, and he runs straight to the car. Everyone at the dog park is so friendly and I love to see all the dogs getting along with each other.
I love the park there. It's a nice size with a water fountain for the dogs and well looked after. There are trees for shade and benches that sit underneath. All the dogs run and play well together. The people there are friendly and inviting. They have an anniversary day every June and booths set up with dog stuff, food and drink. Great place!!
