Boone County Dog Park

Upkeep is not good they do not mow very often and there is poison ivy growing along fence line.

Parents bring their children to the dog park and let them run amok and climb on the agility equipment. There is a playground right past the dog park. They rarely fix the agility equipment due to the lack of respect people with ill-behaved children show it. I love this dog park but I am not fond of the patrons who can't read the posted signage.

Last summer in June 2010 my husband and I visited the dog park. We loved the large dog play areas but were so disappointed with the agility course. The course obstacles were made of splintered and broken wood. I was unsure if this was due to weathering and poor repair or just plain vandalism. The county jail is across the road from the park and you would think they could at least use inmate work details to repair Boone County public properties to keep the area safe from possible injury to your pet. The reviewer from 5/5/11 did not mention this so maybe it has been repaired. Because of the safety issue last summer we never returned.

My only problems with this park are the benches against the fence line because a dog could easily hop on the bench and over the fence and that owners think because the park is so big they can ignore their pooping dog. Other than that this dog park is great because a dog can really stretch their legs here.
