GHET-TO

I cant give an honest review of the dog park because after cruising through the neighborhood with bar covered windows, we locked our doors and kept driving. It might be a wonderful place though.

Great Dog Park as well as an overall park in itself. not as big as west dog park but nice with lots of agility areas for dogs.

Very nice dog park

The park is huge (the large dog part), there's trees for shade, several picnic tables and agility equipment. It's pretty clean for the most part. All of the owners and dogs were friendly and well behaved.

Rough Area but GREAT Dog Park!
4

The park is located in the Temple Terrace area of Tampa. The area itself is rather rough and could be unwelcoming to anyone that isn't familiar with the area. But upon entering the park and getting to the back where the dog park is located you will see that the dog park is pretty nice! We didn't have any issues with any aggressive dogs and the poop situation was under control. Everyone that was there at the time picked up after themselves and I didn't notice any left on the ground. The agility obstacles were great! Our Australian Shepherd absolutely loved them! It was a nice change of pace, as we have yet to find another park in Tampa with obstacles. My only complaints are about the area that the park is unfortunately located in and that the dog park rules specifically state that children are not allowed to play on the dog obstacles. The small dog section had about 6 children playing in the obstacles like it was a playground. Sadly the park has a nice playground, so why the parents felt the need to let them play in an area designated for dogs is beyond me. All around a good dog park!

run down and filled with poop

The people and dogs are generally friendly, however, a few people bring very large, aggressive dogs (unaltered, aggressive pit bulls and such) and take very few steps to restrain the dogs. Pit bulls are not bad dogs, however, these poor dogs have bad owners.
very few people clean up after their dogs and the gate to the park was broken the last time we went. Dogs were escaping into the parking lot. drive a little further and find a better park.

I have been to this park

I have been to this park many times over the last year and a half on the whole this is a really nice park. My dogs love the agility course(though it could use some repairs. I have encountered a few aggressive dogs and there have been owners who didn't think that their dog chasing down and attacking my boys were ok. There are some problems with owners not picking up their dogs waste. Most of the time though both the dogs and people are great.

Ive been here half a dozen

Ive been here half a dozen times and the owners are all very nice and very aware of their pets. In one instance a dog was misbehaving and his owner wasted no time in restraining him.

Why don't you tell them to

Why don't you tell them to take their dog to the large dog area or to take it home if its misbehaving?

Owners need to follow rules!

Owners are not following the appropriate size area for their dogs. 2 weeks ago a family had 3 pits and 2 small sized dogs in the small dog area. The female pit was still nursing and protective of her 2 puppies. She was trying to attach my sisters Chihuahua and my fearless Min Pin. The little girl held her back and took her across the other side and would let her go when our little ones jumped off our laps. Then just today a couple had a few rots and left one that was misbehaving unattended to in the small dog area. He left big pile of waste that they never cleaned up!

agressive dogs

This park is too rough for your pets. Too many owners of aggressive dogs come here and say that their dogs tearing into your dog is "just his way of getting to know you!" Beware of a yellow shepherd and Irish setter duo. You'll know when aggressive dogs come because the regulars will head home! Yikes!

Aggressive dogs and poop

Rowlett is a great park, but the dog park is getting a little rough and there are even "tough guys". Perhaps some enforcement of the "no aggressive dogs" rule would be appropriate. Too, a few owners seem to think the park is their dog's personal toilet and do not clean up their pet's poop. Ugh! Maybe if they were warned and then fined after a warning things would change. Probably not though.
