We've been going to this park ever since we moved into Lutz with our Chihuahua and Chiweenie. There are two separate fenced areas with benches shade and watering stations. The dogs and their owners have always been friendly and responsible. We often take our small dogs into the big dog area where there is more activity and still have never had a problem. One tip I can offer is to bring bug spray.

Just dirt

Big dog park that has SO much potential.... but just dirt. Nasty, sandy dirt. My dog was filthy. There was a dog pool there, but all that created was mud and muddy dogs. We'll never go back there or to the Land O Lakes Rec Dog Park. It sure is a shame that there is NO decent dog park in the Land O Lakes/Lutz/Wesley Chapel area.

Unfortunately what was once a nice park is no longer. Nothing but dirt...and more dirt. Even mulch would be an improvement. Doesnt the county see how this park is an eyesore?

The website has more information. Other details you might want to add are handicapped accessible and that there are 2 parking areas.

If you want even more details:
The Dog Park is approximately 2 acres and separated into a large dog area and small dog area A pond sits in between both dog areas. At the main parking area (122 1st Avenue SW) there are entrances for both dog areas and the nature trail. The main parking lot is graveled, has concrete handicap parking area, a bulletin board with information of interest, a handicap accessible Portolet and a human/dog water fountain. There is a second large dog area entrance with its own parking area next to John’s Butcher shop (102 1st Avenue SW). Both dog areas have benches to sit on and poop bag dispensers. The large dog area has a covered bench next to the concrete restroom building. It also has a dog time out area.

This is a very small park. Very clean and nice dogs. We were warned about some regular dogs that are very aggressive. We didn't see them but thought we would pass along.

I love this dog park! I try to take my Australian Shepherd there at least once or twice a week. The only down side is there isn't enough grass there, the dogs play soo much that a good section of it has gotten whittled down to just dirt, but all and all a friendly place to take your pup.

They must have received other complaints and took action since that review in July 2010 was posted. The park looked very clean when I went there today and there wasn't any trash anywhere except an empty plastic waste bag. There are still a couple of areas that need grass or rocks though.

not bad.

This is a pretty good dog park. There are separate fenced areas for large and small dogs, a water hose and large wading pool to bathe your dog, plenty of plastic bags to clean up after your dog, and a shaded area to sit. The small dog area had two benches, and about 2 or 3 patio chairs to sit on. Only thing I didn't like was too much dirt at the front area by the gate, and the grass was too long in the area next to the fence that separates the large and small dog areas. They should put more rocks in the area by the water hose and tub, to avoid that area getting muddy and nasty.

I have taken my dogs to better dog parks, yes. But if you live in Lutz, I would definitely recommend it. It is fully fenced, which is nice and a big and small area too. Just pick up after yourself. One thing I would recommend is they plant more grass. It is very, very dirty. All in all though, my dogs love it.

I took my 2 dogs to this park today for the first time. I was had high hopes this would be a nice park because my dogs LOVE going to the park. It is all fenced in but it is mostly dirt and there is garbage everywhere. I couldn't even stand to be there because of the smell and the bugs that were every where. I would not recommend this park to anyone we will not go back.

I visited this park on 31 Jan 10, and found it to be disgusting. It's nothing more than a poop minefield on the large dog side.

Like someone else said, the people and dogs are great. An awesome experience for my slightly socially retarded dog. :)

The place is well maintained, dogs are friendly and people are welcoming. I live a bit far but I would definitely come back when I get the chance.
