I took my 5 month old boxer/lab puppy to this park for the first time today. I was very nervous, because Bella does not have the best manners. She gets very excited around new people and she likes to jump, which she did, on more than a few people. Everyone was so nice. I kept apologizing, but everyone acted like it was no big deal. There were so many dogs there of all sizes, which was great, because when the big dogs got a little rough, she had the smaller one to play with. The only thing I wish I would have known before hand was how dirty she was going to get. There is a big grassy area, but all the dogs were by the lake which was all dirt. There is a great washing area, so next time I will be bringing her shampoo and towel. I will be making frequent trips to this park.
Great park with lots of things for our dog to do. We chatted with quite a few friendly people while there as well
Very spacious, lots of shade for those hot days, lake for you dog if he/ she is a swimmer, and a variety of different dogs :)
fantastic!
Dogs are so happy here. There are even trails within the park to bond with your dog off leash on a little hike. Dogs get very dirty and always require a bath but well worth it.
My dog love this parks and everyone is so nice !!
So happy they removed the fee! This awesome park should be (and IS) free for everyone to enjoy! It's so great that the dogs have a nice clean place that they can swim and run in the water. Bonnie LOVES it!
This park is the best!
I've been enjoying this friendly off-leash dog park for over 25 years. I visit weekly and am up on the latest news.
-The park is totally free.
-It is open dawn to dusk 7 days a week.
-The pavilions with BBQ grills are available for rent for parties etc.
-There are water fountains for people and dogs too. There is a nice dog shower area close to the parking lot.
-The bathrooms are always clean, and there is always plenty of free parking.
-The park is totally fenced in including the large wooded area. -Seats, picnic tables and benches are all through the park.
-The park also has an area for leashed dogs, and a boat ramp if you want to boat on the large lake.
-All the dogs run and play well together. Big and small..
The owners are always attentive.
4/12/2011 - The $75 fee has been repealed, the dog park is once again free.
I've had friends who have come to this park quite often PRIOR to the rip-off charge, & they loved it. As usual the snooty Winterparkettes want to charge some exobitant amount to keep out the "riff-raff" who can't afford this crazy charge. No thank you, Winter Park. We'll bring our sweet dog to other parks where we're welcome without the "upcharge". Such a shame that the board members like to consider themselves as animal lovers, but they're certainly not "peeple" lovers. Yes, I know the history of how this park was named...I was born & raised in Orlando. In this economy it would be nice to be able to have choices of pretty & clean places to take our dog where it's not $75-$125!! How about something a little more reasonable like $35??
I read in today's Orlando Sentinel that the new fees charged at this park has become an election issue. So it should be. I don't mind paying a fee. But I don't understand the fee structure. did it actually go from 0 to $75.00 at once? Is the park now for only members. Cannot visitors use this park for a day and pay a daily fee. The fee amount seems to be rather exorbitant. Would it not be reasonable to start off with a yearly fee of $25.00 per vehicle (not per dog). And for visitors, like myself, perhaps $2.00 per visit. I think you folks need to be reasonable.

PS: For now, I'd rather use Dr. Philips Community Park. It is much nicer, and doesn't cost anything. Folks rethink your policy.
I am so disappointed in your change of policy. Each year I travel to this area of Florida and leave thousands of dollars behind by way of accommodations, food and retail purchases, etc. etc. One of the reasons I come to this area is because of the wonderful Fleet Peeples Dog Park. I take my little dog with me almost everywhere. Apparently I am limited in what I can say. So goodbye. -Brian Hinkley, Hamilton, Ontario Canada
75$ fee!!! Really?? Not worth it. Once again winter park being greedy and snob like
Fleet Peeples Dog Park is now an open-to-members only dog park. The user fee is $75 PER dog, not per household. Dog owners using the park must be able to show proof that they have paid the user fee or will be asked to leave the premises. This is no longer a good park. And Winter park is no longer a dog-friendly city. They are also considering ordinances banning dogs from all the park in Winter Park.
I visited Fleet Peeples on 10/9/10 and thought it was an amazing place to bring my dog! I was just visiting a friend in town and she brings her dog here all the time so we decided to check it out. We had a great day at the park, plenty of seating and shade, the grounds were very well maintained, and the washing stations were really nice to have. This was a Saturday and it was very busy but I never felt like it was too crowded. The dogs were loving the water and it definitely helped them stay cool.
This was the first time we've visited a fenced-in dog park so it was also the first time we let our dog (3 yr old border collie mix) off-leash in public. I was immediately comfortable letting her run around and mingle with the other dogs. Even though there were a lot of dogs there, there really weren't many aggression issues. Generally the higher-energy dogs played together and everyone meshed well. I will note that owners with small dogs will definitely want to keep their dog near their side - even if other dogs aren't aggressive, they'll definitely come up in groups of 2-5 to play but the smaller dogs can't really handle it.
We had a fantastic afternoon at Fleet Peeples, I only wish we had a dog park of this quality in Tampa!!
This is the best park since I can bring both my big and little ones and let them play together. They LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!! the lake and the trails through the wooded area. It's also the only park I know that has a restroom! Some owners do need to keep a better eye on their dogs though. Some seem to come to socialize themselves not their dogs! It also nice that the trash cans are huge and the have poop scoops so you don't always have to pick it up with a bag.
This is a great park and we bring our dogs out every weekend. It's a great place to meet new people and make great friends. Some of our best friends we met at the park! Dogs of all kind come out, big and small, but there is plenty of room for everyone to share, even though there is not a designated "small dog" area. Our dogs are small, a beagle and a small beagle mix, and they do just fine playing next to Great Danes. The "leash hours" on the weekends are technically in place, but not enforced. We usually don't even get there until 10am on the weekends! There are a few things to remember though:
1: Expect to get dirty! Don't wear nice clothing because there is lots of dirt and mud! Dogs will jump up to say hi and likely put paw prints on whatever you are wearing!
2: Bring shampoo and a towel for your pup unless you want that dirt and mud to be in your car. There is a bathing station to give them a bath.
3: Don't bring food/treats unless you want to be harassed, especially by my beagle who's nose will sniff it out of your pocket, bag, hand, wherever you think you can hide it!
4: PICK UP YOUR DOGS POO! If you can't find where they went, please pick up what we like to call a "courtesy poo" to balance it out!
5: HAVE FUN! The dogs playing are hilarious to watch!
EDITOR COMMENT: We do not recommend breaking the on leash rule as you could get a ticket when they decide to enforce this rule.
This park is great for large dogs BUT I currently have a small dog and having them all combined in this area is scary for my small dog to be in. I have been to this park twice and I fear for my dogs life to be trampled by the large dogs because my dog loves to play with big dogs. However, not all big dogs are friendly to small dogs.
I love this park and for all the reasons everyone has said. My walker hound and my weim love the trails and so do we. It let's them "hunt" the only issue I have is with this 10a - 4pm nonsense. If it really is because they want to make it where people can cook out then fence the grill and picnic area and let everyone be happy. It is not fair to ask people who come to an off-leash dog park to leash their dogs 2 days out of the week. This is unfair to the dogs the most. I'm sure they expect to get off their leash and run like they do every other day they go. So please make this a dog park once more and keep the off-leash everyday all day. Fence the picnic area in if you must. Personally I don't understand why people want to cook out at the DOG PARK one of the top 10 in the USA.
You are so right!! Fleet Peeples Park is the best in the area!!!
This is by far the best dog park I've ever taken my dog too. Its HUGE and they can swim in the lake. Its got everything a dog could ever want! I live in Atlanta but was in Orlando for the holidays...I wish Atlanta had something like this.
I take my dog to this park most evenings. she can swim, pay with other dogs and have fun! it's the best park i've been to (clean, huge, fenced in and on a lake with a little breeze!). Plus, the pet owners are friendly and responsible.
I've been taking my dogs to this park for over a year. I think its the best place for the dogs to be socialized. I bring my 3 pitbulls out there and they love to run and swim. All the people that have misconceptions about the breed now see otherwise. Im glad the park is staying open. PICK UP YOUR POOP EVERYONE ;-)
We go every weekend to this park, and sometimes during the week if time allows! The local police department like the dog park & the dog owners. The city also recently passed the development plan to improve the park and eventually do away with the leash laws, so don't let that discourage you! I've been going to this park for over 10 years (we started taking our dogs before it was "officially" a dog park) and it's great.
Actually you can be off-leash on weekends, just not between 10am and 4pm. You should have read the rules better...
Not dog friendly at all. Must have dogs on leash on weekends and holidays. WHAT??? This is when most people have free time to let their dogs play and socialize with other dogs. I can walk my dog on a leash at my home; don't need to drive to an unfriendly "dog park" to hold him on a leash.
This is my favorite dog park. I can't find another one like it. There is a lake to throw sticks in for your dog to swim after. The people are nice, tons of dogs and all friendly. Also, it is fenced and there are walking trails throughout it. Also, a bathing area to rinse off those muddy paws....wish north Georgia had a park like this.
This is a great dog park. Park is kept clean and very well maintained. There is also a lake that the dogs can swim in to keep cool. Lots of dogs and their owners to meet on the weekends. Kelly-Orlando, FL
