Wonderful dog park. Very large running area, friendly people and dogs. Stream is nice but current can be strong for dogs who are tired, etc. Lots of shade by the water. Bring your own water.
In town from New Orleans visiting relatives with my 6 month old lab mix puppy. He had a blast! I found the grounds to be clean, neat, and well cared-for, and the dogs to be really well-behaved. The stream is just beautiful. My pup had never seen anything like it. We stayed for a couple of hours, and saw a great number of dogs and people show up, both of which swimming in the stream.
Word of warning, though: I was told by someone there that when the water is high the current can take dogs downstream or get them dangerously trapped in an eddy, so be sure to watch for that if the water level is close to the steps.
On a hot summer day, there is nothing better than wading into the river with your pooch! Parents note - this is a DOG park, not a family recreation area; children should be dog-savvy and old enough not to get scared by large, happy, bouncy dogs. It is not the owner's job to keep their dogs away from your child; it is your job to keep your child away from dogs who concern you. That said, this is a family-friendly park where dog lovers of all ages can safely mingle.
Well maintained
absolutely love this park!!!
