Tiny Pup

If your puppy is still a tiny one and doesn't have all of her shots I suggest you don't take her to a dog park yet especially if she isn't properly socialized. Our little Boston pup is 6 months and we don't let her to the puppy parks yet. I suggest something indoor and supervised. For young puppy socialization I suggest going to my dog's place. They have a location in both Niantic and Mystic and they are great with beginning to socialize young pups. We go to Bea's classes. I believe her Mystic class is on Saturday's at 9:00 a.m. and her other class is on Sunday's in Niantic at 10:00 a.m. She is tough and tells it like it is but she is a great trainer who is extremely knowledgeable and always does what is in the best interest of the dogs. She begins to build a relationship with your dog week to week and it's only $5 (honors system) every time you attend play group. Also, I believe you need to have your rabies vaccine done pup that doesn't take long. If you're interested their website is www.mydogsplace.com and it always lists schedule changes and class descriptions. Hope this helps.

Hi this sounds like a great way for me and my new puppy to get some exercise, since i'm not working at the moment and expecting my first child in june! I was jus wondering if it was a good idea to bring my puppy shes sooo tiny and only 8 weeks? Maybe I should wait til she has all of her shots? Any advice please and thanks in advance :)

Dogs on Leash

This park is awesome. I go there whenever I have a chance, typically 3-4 times a week. I have met many friends there and so has my dog.

Hi

If I am coming from Gales Ferry, and I'm traveling down RT. 12 towards Groton, where do I go from there. Do I have to have my small dogs on a leash?

COMMENT: This is a fully fenced dog park and leashes are not used inside this area. Take the Hwy 12 south and then Gold Star Hwy (Hwy 184) east to the dog park on your right. (the map does zoom out for a better view of the surrounding Highways.)

Central Bark in Groton

The parking lot for the Copp Family Park is on Rt 184, immediately west of the traffic light at Gungywump Road (which is about a mile west of the 117 intersection). The park is a short hike down the trail, and all the dogs in the park come to the gate to welcome newcomers. The people and the dogs are all friendly. It's a great place for socializing - and getting exercise. A walk back to the parking lot can be by way of the woodland trails (even the reservoir), for a nice cool-down period.

it is on Rt 184 in Groton if you approach from Walmart going toward Ledyard it is about a block after the Honda motorcycle place/traffic light (Buddington Rd???) it will be on your right and right before the next traffic light (don't know the name of that road)

They have doggie bags up in several locations, benches, chairs, bowls, toys, trees/shade, trails (even down to the water), seperate spots for the big dogs and little dogs. Plenty of room to play frisby, toss tennis balls, etc. Great place, plenty of parking, and a porta-potty

Location

If you know where New England Cycle works is on 184 you are not too far away. if you are there and head towards mystic the park is on your right hand side about 400 yards away

I've taken my little peanut to this park a few times and I absolutely love it. I also love the fact that there is an enclosure for smaller dogs since mine is usually the tiniest of all. I think it's great and I would recommend everyone who has dogs to take them there. It's wonderful to see them just being dogs.
