We stopped here on our drive from SF to LA. Loved the large open space for dogs to romp off-leash. There also walking paths and hiking trails, clean restroom, and picnic tables nearby. I would have given this park 5 stars if it didn't back up to the parking lot & road with no real fencing. Otherwise, it's a great park!!

small dog park

I was wondering is there any plans to put up a fenced small dog park. I have spoken to people at Elm dog park in Arroy Grande that come from SLO as I am. We do not go there because our dogs have been accidently stomped on by the big dogs and do not feel safe there with our small dog.

The park is lovely! There was a watering station for the dogs, and a restroom and several benches for people. There are waste bags and trash cans for doggie clean- up. The grassy off-leash area is huge, and there are also nice on-leash paths to walk on. There is some fencing between the parking area and the off-leash section, but it's not gated. There's plenty of room to get away from the parking area, but if your dog is mischievous (like mine) and gets out into the parking area, there are only the cars coming to the dog park, so it's slow moving and not too busy.
Just before you turn into the park, there is a shopping center with a variety of food and drink opportunities, so if you want to nosh while your dog plays, there you go!
The park is just off the 101 by the Madonna Inn. The dogs had a great run to break up our long trip; they slept the rest of the way home. Thank you SLO dog lovers for this great dog park!
