A Great Place to Walk with Your Dog
5

This park covers several acres with lots of beach access (no waves in Mission Bay), scrubland areas and a fantastic place for doggy socialization. It's large enough for runners to exercise with their dogs. Lots of parking and several different entry points for real easy access. The center area has picnic tables and mature trees. The locals seem to bring gallon containers of fresh water and a couple of drinking dishes. Bring a jug!
This place has been a real find and a highlight of our trip to San Diego.

Doggy Heaven

Fantastic park! It seems to go forever. Water, Sand, plenty of trashcans to dispose of doggy waste; what more could you want? No, it's not "fully fenced" as in, there are fences, but if your dog goes in the water, or between the rocks, they could get out. However, if your dog does not respond to you off-leash, they shouldn't be off-leash in the first place. There are free doggy training classes here every Saturday, too! Awesome, awesome, awesome!!

Best Off leash area in SD

Me and my dog have been coming here for 2 years. He loves it because he can roam free and sniff around or wade in the water. The dog beach is about two miles, if you walk all the way around it, which I recommend. If that isn't enouph you can walk the entire beach, which is like 5 miles. Either way it's relaxing and beautiful. Haven't seen too many issues with aggressive dogs. If your dog is well behaved and listens to you, I recommend it. This beach is not for irresponsible owners or dogs that don't like to come when called unless you want to chase your dog for more than two miles.

NOT fully fenced-almost lost my dog today

I went to this park having heard it was fully fenced, so naturally I let my dog off her leash and allowed her to run off as far as she wanted.  She immediately ran towards the water, over a hill where I could no longer see her.  Still thinking it was fully fenced, I casually walked toward the area I last saw her to find....NO MORE FENCE!!  Luckily, she stuck around and I was able to find her almost immediately.  We left and went to the dog park in Point Loma, which actually IS FULLY FENCED, and is very nice.  I love Fiesta Island for me and my dog when there aren't too many people/other dogs around to distract her, but I won't be using the 'dog park' area anymore.  Just thought I should warn everyone about this fallacy.
