Phoenix Dog Park

This dog park didn't take long to removed from places we'll be taking our dog. First the man who self appointed himself as running it (and it is public) wouldn't allow me to dump and refill the water after I saw one dog with a muzzle and another with a frothy drool, claiming lack of drainage... The man had also gotten onto our children, about "running" and playing with the dogs, stating that running wasn't allowed. Normally I would leave it at that, but we left after he insisted on literally following the kids, even when he saw they were already be spoken to by us. I might be hyper sensitive when it comes to my dog, but it is creepy to have a grown man literally following my kids to beat us to telling them the man's self imposed park rules. We will not be returning to Phoenix Dog Park anytime in the future, it was less than welcoming.

First time here, really a nice large park, great seating in shade, hard to find as it was I far back corner an not well marked, well maintained and bathroom access a major plus!

I have taken my dogs to Phoenix park over the past couple of years and they do take good care of the park. They close it when it's too muddy & have places to put poop bags i think some patrons probably leave. The people that come are friendly & understanding when introducing a new dog. There's always that dog that doesn't socialize well but the owners are usually responsible. The grass is nice. The fences are well maintained. The road is potholed but it's just one of those things... Parks don't get much funding so if it's important to you they take donations.

Stagnant water/puddles everywhere. Aggressive dogs ... 1st time at the park ~ last time! So many tennis balls (old and chewed up) all over the place..dogs wouldn't chase the balls.

Nice park

I've been taking my dogs to Phoenix Park for over 10yrs! I was happy when the first dog part opened, but disappointed when they closed it down and moved it to the other side of the park. The newer dog park has less room to run. The road to get to the newer part is also a pain to drive down, (tons of HUGE pot holes), and get to, (hard to turn across Hazel Ave). The park seems to stay pretty clean. Overall, this park is nice and I will keep taking my dogs there.

Poor Accessibility

Yes, this park has lots of beautiful green grass for the dogs to run around on, but it's not accessible for the disabled.
I am a wheelchair user and this was my first visit. So dis-appointed! Only one handicapped parking space - if it's taken you will have to park in a gravel lot and go up a steep slope to reach the sidewalk. Upon entering the fenced play area the sidewalk stops at a small square of pavers that my wheelchair couldn't roll on. All park amenities were out of my reach on the far sides of the park - covered shade, water bowls, poop bags, seating. A simple sidewalk down one side of the grass would allow ALL visitors equal access. For the size and popularity of this park, the design is so disappointing!

We love this dog park. My American Bulldog is so excited when we go there. The other dog owners and dogs are friendly and fun. My dog Petey just has the best days there. And everyone picks up after themselves...Good Job, and thank you Fair Oaks.

Very well run park

Our family changed to this park after getting tired of muddy, poorly run parks. This park is great! Kind, intelligent people, there's almost always a commitee member there, it's ALL grass & there is a section for every dog's need. It's closed during the rainy times to preserve the grass & they have a hotline you can call to see if it's open or not in the winter. We see both big and small dogs play together happily. And the dog park occasionally will have animal behavior experts to speak & have demostrations as well. A well managed park.

Really happy with this park!

I've taken my dogs to a lot of dog parks over the years and I think this is one of the better ones we've been to. Nice people and well maintained. There is water available and a small kiddy pool for dogs to jump in and out of. Buckets with balls for your dog to play with, are conveniently hanging on the fence. Someone really cares enough to take good care of this park. I'm sure it is mostly due to some wonderful volunteers, and the folks that use this park, that want it to remain in good shape. Really nice!!!!

Nice spaces

This park is very clean and spacious. The small dog side is almost as large as the large dog side, which is great. Our puppy had a great time. There is even a third space for shy, elderly, or injured dogs. The idea of the park and the execution are just great. However there aren't very many benches and no trees, though some little trees are planted. It's very pleasant in the winter and spring, but I imagine it will be pretty hot in the summer until those trees grow up a bit. Overall, a really great park with nice dogs and their people.
