Dog Park Finder
I moved to this area in September, from a town that was not so dog-friendly. My dog is shy and nervous with strangers and turns to jelly in a crowd. The changes I have seen in her since moving here and frequenting the park on a daily basis are nothing short of a miracle. The care and love the users of the park put into it is obvious and it is a wonderful place to make new friends and meet neighbors. I am truly blessed to have such a precious resource so close to my home.
The reason for requiring dogs be spayed or neutered (altered) is to prevent problems among the many dogs that use the park. A female in heat can attract the attention of male dogs who, in turn, can become aggressive as they vie for her affection. This can lead to fights among normally passive males. It's nature at work, unfortunately. The same can be said for unaltered males, especially among younger dogs.
The requirement that dogs be off-leash is to prevent a dog from defending itself or owner from perceived threats due to the fact that it's natural "Fight or Flight" instincts have been limited to fight. It is not meant to exclude anyone from enjoying all that the park has to offer. Instead it is meant to improve the enjoyment of all users, not just a few.
I have been visiting the park for quite some time and have seen first hand what can happen when an unaltered male is allowed in. It is, at best, uncomfortable for all. It can also lead to fights among dogs. So, in the interest of safety please abide by the posted rules.
Lastly, I have always been amazed by the diversity of people who come to the dog park at the Aquatic Center; it is amazing that so many people from such a wide spectrum of society can come together and enjoy watching their pets frolic and make friends. It's what makes, I feel, Fort Bragg such an amazing place to live.
I've taken my dog there and each time have had a good experience
with all the other dogs. The park should be for friendly dogs not problem dogs that want to growl and bite and it is this way thanks
to the rules. keep up the good work and thanks for giving to our town.
It descriminates between, neutered and spayed female dogs, not everyone is invited, only a select few!! A few old ladies hang out their and cause trouble for everyone!! they are not fair at all, disgusted with all their silly rules!!How are they even going to say a female can't go to the park BULLIES THATS WHAT THEY ARE
