This dog park is for small dogs (30lb and under); it is grass and mostly dirt terrain. This park has water spigots, drinking fountains, chairs, and trees. There is a walking path that leads down to the beach but dogs must be on leash outside of the dog park. Here is a local website that supports this park. (aka Sunny's Dog Park)

Landscape

This year there are a great many fox tails at this dog park. Our dogs love this park, but have picked up too many of these nasty little weeds and have had to go to the vets a couple of times. We are going to have to find another dog park, but would mostly like to know if there is anything we can do to improve the landscape of this one...Thanks.

Honestly I had high hopes for this park, but against all the evidence presented at all the meetings that it should be for 20# or less small dogs, they voted it for 30# or less. And frankly most owners haven't a clue as to their dogs' actual weight. I find this park insanely overcrowded, with owners not picking up after their dogs, and NOT watching their dogs. They tend to wander off and stay on their cell phones while their dogs do all sorts of things that are not nice, humping other dogs, being overly aggressive in play. On 3 separate occasions in a short period of time, I found dogs in the small dog park that were clearly large dogs. A German shepard mix, 2 lab mixes, and on one occasion pit bull puppies. One of those was too young to have even had it's shots and didn't belong anywhere public for it's own or other dogs' safety. The other was an aggressive pit puppy that scared off the smaller dogs. Large breeds do NOT play the same way as small and do not belong in small dog parks, no matter their age.
On one occasion the person with the German Shepard mix dog (at least 45 to 50 Pounds) tried to physically restrain me from collecting my panicking dogs as her dog chased mine around the park at top speed. The smaller dogs were NOT having fun as she kept claiming that this is the way dogs play.
No thanks, this park is way too abused by people who have no understanding or care of dog behavior. A Yorkie or truly small dog is not safe there when these types of people inhabit it.

I would give this park a 4!!! I have seen 99% of the people pick up after their dogs in my visits since 01/09. I wish it had more grass too as it does tend to get puddles when it has rained alot. My dog can run around a good sized area and burn up lots of energy there, which makes my life so much easier! I am happy that it is here and so close to go to, and my dog can play there safely!

Pretty good

I would rate this dog park as pretty good.  It has more pluses than minuses compared to other dog parks.  There are only two minuses which keep me from rating it as "great".  The park is  mostly dirt rather than grass.  And many dog owners do not pick up after their dogs even though there are plenty of poop bag stations and trash cans around the park.  Come on people, pick up after your dog!
