This park has it all... ...for dogs.

Swimming, training areas and plenty of room to run. Three different sections and hoses to rinse off before the ride home.
We have a great time every time we go!

It would be a great park if people cleaned up after their dogs. I've been in dog parks all over the country and have never seen so much dog feces. There is poop all over the off leash areas. There is poop all over as you walk done the hill to the off leash areas. Not just a few piles but everywhere. They are just too lazy, selfish, and inconsidrate to clean up after themselves. Too bad, it could be such a nice park.

Finally visited Cosmo with my Bc 's

Well i finally visited after reading and hearing very mixed reviews. Mostly that the water was very dirty etc. I have to say I was very expressed with the entire park - water and yards. The dogs and I had a blast. The yards are all fenced in except for the front half of the swimming lake but quite honestly the would have to swim a distance in the deep end to even get there. There are rinsing stations in all the yards for cleaning your dogs up. There us plenty if space for running and chasing balls etc or trying out the concrete obstacles. It was well worth the 30 minute drive to me. I am heading back next week.

Mel and the furbabies!

We took our 8 month pup to this first time experience for her. She had a blast. We went on a Wednesday afternoon and there were only about 10 dogs there. The lake is very nice. They have some obstacles for the dogs in the non-lake area. Our dog had a blast and the other dogs and people were friendly.

OK

This park is large. That's about the best thing it's got going for it from my experience. The dog park itself is pretty far from the parking area, so if your dog gets excited and is very eager to get to the park, be prepared to be pulled down a pretty large hill to the fenced area. Also, very, very muddy and dirty. It's understandable about the mud considering there's a lake on one side, but it's quite a mess. Bring some towels to dry down your dogs after they get a good hosing off. Also, the one side of the lake is NOT fenced, so if you've got a dog that's a good swimmer and will get distracted chasing grasshoppers and suddenly become deaf (like mine), steer clear of the lake or use a retractable leash, or you just might find yourself missing a dog. The people that come here are for the most part pleasant, but there seem to be more people that come here who are a bit irresponsible compared to other parks I've been to (in regards to not watching their dogs, etc). The large area opposite the lake has nice agility equipment for the dogs to play on! An OK park, but definitely not my first pick.

Great park - couple of issues.

We love taking our Labs to Cosmo. The people are friendly, the dogs are fun, and the lake is perfect for swimming dogs.

Two issues though - recently the City of Gilbert is apparently needing money so they have been posting an officer up on the hill or at the entry gate. One day we watched this very unfriendly female officer write ticket after ticket if dogs didn't have proper tags or she deemed them "aggressive". It was really kind of pathetic. We didn't get any tickets but I am sure the people that did will never come back.

Secondly, we have not been back for several weeks because, after getting home from the last visit to Cosmo, our female lab came down with a severe case of itching and hot spots. We took her to the vet and were told she had a case of "raging bacterial skin infection". So, three weeks and $260 later she is fine. Not sure where she contracted it but the vet suspects the lake water at Cosmo.

Word of advice, take advantage of the rinsing station when you get ready to leave and thoroughly rinse your dog off before leaving the park.

If you have a water dog, which I don't, this could be a fun park. However the other side of the park, not near the water, is small and has gravel not grass. I was there on a rainy day and it was a muddy mess. Also, I saw several dogs defecating in the water. Which totally turned me off. Even if I owned a water dog I would not go back there. Many other nicer parks in the East Valley.

My two dogs LOVE Cosmo dog park

I have a 1 year old golden retriever who has been going to Cosmo Dog Park since he was 4 months old, along with my new addition, a 6 year old lab. They swim, run, play with the other dogs, and never want to leave. And I enjoy being outside and meeting the other dog owners. I have been to a lot of dog parks, but Cosmo is without a doubt the nicest.
